jim hayes 0 Posted August 9, 2004 Vintage Stuart. I have the feeling that if I were to go to Mr. Gregory's studio to conduct business, I would see many of his classic shots hanging in the waiting room and along the hallway to his office. Of course these would be portfolio shots of the great beauties that he photographs. However, upon entering his office, I would see shots like this one. The effect being, if these women can relax with Mr. Gregory, I certainly can too, and would immediately be disarmed. That being said, I don't know which shots I like the best, but I certainly do know the shots that seem to like me. Link to comment
g2imaging 0 Posted August 9, 2004 Jim: Thank you for the tremendous compliment and perception. You nailed part of my biggest dilema right on the head. Shooting in Los Angeles, land of a million "legit photographers" I am often faced with an initial trust issue from my models, especially the less seasoned ones. This is justified in Los Angeles as many photographers take advantage of young attractive women. I always try to introduce myself to my models before I ever show them a camera, on the phone, via e-mail, and as you observed, by showing them images like this. I have never considered myself a glamor, portrait or fashion photographer.... I am a people photographer.... It is the comfortable shots that I strive to get... the more serioius ones come after that chemistry between photographer and model has been developed. Thanks again as I have been working on exactly what you noticed. Greg Link to comment
