marcin_cychowski 0 Posted August 6, 2004 I like the photo, colours are lovely, but I'm not sure about the cut on the left-hand side. Great picture overall. Link to comment
jordan2240 89 Posted August 6, 2004 Ken, I also like the colors here. I agree with another poster regarding the framing of the shot - I don't think I like the crop on the left side. Just seems to throw everything off balance, but maybe that's what you intended. Also, as soon as I saw this, my first impression was that it was a digital capture. It looks somewhat oversharpened to me, and for my tastes, could use less contrast. But that's more of a personal preference. Bill Link to comment
afterthoughts 0 Posted August 6, 2004 Eye popping composition. Colors are fantastic. Sometimes in the field, you get what you can get. Sometimes circumstamces prevents perfect framing. If you didn't do the crop in PS, then you did a great job. If you did crop in PS, then maybe you can correct left side as mentioned. Either way, this is a winner. Link to comment
sarahunderhill 1 Posted August 6, 2004 Pretty, simple shot. Great DOF here! Well seen and planned. Link to comment
wilsontsoi 0 Posted August 6, 2004 Very nice colors, overcast lighting, PS blurred effect, and shallow DOF (was it PS blur, or what lens did you use?) Compositionally, I agree with Howard. May be experimentwith a tighter crop to improve composition (less "cropped out feeling" on the white flowers.) Just an option. ^_^ Link to comment
home page1 0 Posted August 7, 2004 This is one of the first pix I posted on PN. Someone suggested a different crop so I tried it on this shot. The photo was digitally captured. I did a gaussian blur on the original background and sharpened and exposed the new crop to my taste and what I've been able to learn from this website. Anyone have a suggestion for a different crop from the original? Link to comment
wilsontsoi 0 Posted August 7, 2004 Nice job on the blur, Ken. It's not artificial looking as one can easily over do it. I'd say I prefer your original capture (especially if you trim off the right a little) over your repost. However you cut it, the color and detail are so exquisite that it makes the image works regardless. Link to comment
francis_cailles 0 Posted August 8, 2004 excellent, Ken. Doesn't get any better than this. Link to comment

pawel_stradowski 0 Posted August 12, 2004 Flower as in most cases are not a very original selection and no expression is presented, but this photo at first glance presents perfect quality and colors Link to comment
glogower 0 Posted August 13, 2004 I enjoyed looking at both versions...It is certainly nice to improve a photo with cropping, but you have to do a good job capturing the image in the 1st place and you have done that... Link to comment
jmcconnell2 0 Posted September 14, 2004 No matter how you slice it, this is great subject matter. 7/7 Link to comment
