I took a look at your portfolio - talk about perfection and beauty! It interests me that you would get tired of that. I'm struggling with achieving perfection or beauty, as you can see in my portfolio. This image - nice action and composition, interesting perspective. Did you take some with the kids in focus but the net OOF? At first the OOF kids bothered me, but the more I look, the less bothersome. Nice lighting and composition.

It took me by suprise, I had to look twice. I really like the net being in focus. Makes this perspective view a bit different. I like it. I'm wondering if you can increase the contrast of the net without the rest, the light falls off in my upper left, for some reason it distracts me a bit from the boys. Oh yes, and it's definately best when viewed large!

Thanks for visiting and commenting this photo!

I do apreciate your comments very much.

Eric ... I do very well understand your wondering of me getting tired of the beauty and polished because that is what I have been trying to archieve in most of my photos ... and I still will try to make that kind of photos too .... but sometimes I get soooo bored of it .. sun rises .. sunsets ... landscapes .... perfection and I think there are other ways to see the "world".

Thanks for your nice comment. It is helpfull to me. When shooting this I didn't want to focus on the boys. I wanted to make them look a little in their own land, did not want them to be the main "actors".... just the "second players" and I did want to bring the net in focus ... the thing that first fell into my eyes.

You have a photo of a shawldancer I like very much : http://www.photo.net/photodb/photo?photo_id=2322185

James and Mario .... thanks for your comments. I know it isn't a photo which will reach the top pages ... but a style I like and want to try to work more with.

Jayme ... so you were taken by surprise ... because it was me doing that kind of photo? ... or was it the photo it self?

I think you are right of the light on the net in upper left corner .... perhaps a square crop would eleminate that? Thanks for telling me.

And yes .. best when viewed large but that goes for most of the photos on PN I guess ... I always view them larger if there is a posibility for that

And about the DOF ... how I miss my 10D which is down at the moment ... siighh .... it is so much easyer to play with the DOF with the 10D than with the little camera I used for this photo.

I love this ... the focus is wonderful for what you're doing. I thought, at first glance, that the mesh in the foreground was from a soccer net. But if you tell me it's a fence, I'll believe you. :-) Looks like these little guys are having a great time!!

Thanks to Lou Ann and Ken B. for the comments.

Lou Ann ... you are right .. it is a socker net but at the same time the little playing field is fenced, so...... It's taking from my work and we do have a good big green playing field but often the kids prefer this little fenced playing field.

Fenced indeed .....

I too grow weary of all the perfectly PS'd landscapes on the TRP ....... they begin to all look alike. Bravo to you for exploring new paths - ballsy thing to do as they say in Texas.

Some Native Americans here participate in what is known as a 'Vision Quest' ........ 3 days or so of not eating, in a sweat lodge (steam and smoke filled hut) in a remote location (mountain top) ....... In this 'altered state' they have 'visions' which help them find their way ........... Perhaps you could strand yourself - snowed in - in a log cabin - with only steak, shrimp and champagne and accomplish the same thing ...
