markskelly 0 Posted July 30, 2004 Interesting composition and good light. A bit oversaturated for my taste though. Link to comment
jdarko 0 Posted July 30, 2004 I like the contrast between the tree and the rock. Pleases my eye. Link to comment

robertbrown 1 Posted July 30, 2004 I've seen a lot of your images and this has to be one of the best. Terrific saturated colors and nicely designed shot! Link to comment

root 0 Posted July 30, 2004 The image has very strong curb appeal. The dark reds and blues especially seem a bit too strong, though. The composition seems a bit broken up by the strong central vertical, but I can see that you wanted to include the upper left portions. Maybe there are just too many competing areas of interest. Tuhin 2 Posted July 31, 2004 Great colour and kudos for spotting this . But is your style of photography changing ? Link to comment
alecee 0 Posted July 31, 2004 Thanks guys for the interesting comments. Mark, Jonny, Cristina, Gaetan, Sarah you'll be amazed by the strong colors and detail on the rocks when you visit Zion National Park. Robert, Jouni, Angela, Francesco, Maria really appreciate your kind words. Carl, I know how you like to concentrate and focus on one area as seen from your unique abstract images. This shot is a very small section of a large red rock formation. If you look at the flow of the rock vein it fits perfectly with the tree branch formation. I wanted to portray the weathered rugged features and still depict the tenderness of the little tree clinging on at the lower portion where I simply love the slight purple hue and gravel formation. Tuhin, thanks to photo.net and the participating members I have made considerable progress since joining in September last year. Glad to be here with all you guys. Link to comment
c brake 0 Posted July 31, 2004 I love the colors and composition. I really like the way the two rocks nestle into each other and the lines in the formations. Great image. Link to comment
peter_daalder 0 Posted July 31, 2004 "The composition seems a bit broken up by the strong central vertical, but I can see that you wanted to include the upper left portions."Unfortunately, I can't see what the actual attraction of the upper left portions might be. I would have posted it per attachment... Just another point-of-view, Alec. Cheers Link to comment
alecee 0 Posted July 31, 2004 Peter, thanks. I like your view as it takes away some of the old grey colors on the top left corner. Aesthetically your crop will be much better. Link to comment
peter_daalder 0 Posted July 31, 2004 Your welcome Alec. I wonder if the aesthetic improvement is due to the strong vertical having been moved away from the center. In other words, was Carl's comment about the composition being "broken up", a valid observation... Actually, my crop still has the strong vertical close to the center of the image, at any rate. Intriguing that such a small change could lead to improved aesthetics. I would be most interested if others have a view on this. Link to comment
