The serene calm evening waters in Shoreline Village marina where the

Grand Old Lady rests. What a sight to behold, especially in the

evening.

Beautiful. Great colors. Did you try to rotate it 180? (Reflexion Up). Regards

PS: my imge you commented is composite, yes.

Two shots. One is part of my face and the other the glass with the bubles

Beautiful image, Alec! The unusual clouds, you captured and the reflection. Nice and well balanced shot!

Cheers, allon.

How is it that you used your polariser glass with this? I tried a few reflection shots in NZ and the polariser cut my reflection to minimal status? Here it works fine - I don't mind the fact that the water (left) on reflection has more blue in it than the sky. This is a stunning shot!

Thanks Francesco, Mark for your comments.

Rogerio I tried turning the notebook upside down - I must say the effect is cool!

Allon, Ektor, Amar appreciate your comments.

Matty the polarising filter work in two directions. I shoot it with the darkest colorisation and also wind it at the opposite end for another shot - just to see which is better. Try it next time.

First off, excellent shot. I certainly enjoy your work. I'm guessing that the sun was coming from the right, and that the dark band of sky represents the region of greatest light polarization. This would be approximately orthogonal (90 degrees) to the direction of incident light. This can ruin a photo if it's a dark band down the center, but in this case, it's towards the side and produces a pleasing gradation in the sky. I can't figure out why the reflection off the water in the lower right is darker, however. The effect is nice, however.

Nice capture, Alec. I found out that they do a "Murder Mystery" dinner cruise on this riverboat in Long Beach. For more information, go to their web site at www.KillerEntertainment.com.

Erik, thanks for your technical analysis. I take it as it is and the waters are actually very dark blue, almost black in the Marina. That's why it turn out darker than the sky.

Bob, couldn't open the link.

Mark F, you have some interesting images in your portfolio

I only use this site to learn, I could care less about ratings. I find that each month my ability improves from what I read see, and try.

Mark, you have a good eye for compositions and it show in your portfolio. I always believe taking a photo is only part of the equation. It is like an image which needs to be 'touched up' like what the pros do with a 'RAW' file.

You are already familiar with the basics of PS and it will certainly provide you much more pleasure in seeing beautifully rendered images. Please don't be mistaken, I'm not into obvious digitally enhanced images and I try to keep it as natural as possible. You can have it when you have mastered the skills of photography and image software.

Another great piece of work Alec. The light here is really great indicating a mastering control of exposure. Congrats!
