wingell 0 Posted July 25, 2004 Here's an image of women having lunch at one of my favorite haunts-- Java Joe's coffee house in downtown Binghamton, NY. Your comments and critiques are welcomed. Thanks...Bill Link to comment
dwm1953 0 Posted July 25, 2004 Difficult capture with the backlight and no apparent use of fill flash. It's OK as is, but contrast masking may help lighten up the shadows without blowing the highlights. While I think Java Joe's color scheme is attractive, I wondered about using b&w for this instead. For your consideration... Link to comment
wingell 0 Posted July 25, 2004 Thanks, all, for the comments. You're correct, David--no fill flash. I was seated about eight feet from the women and got off one shot--without them appearing to notice. I can appreciate the black and white version, but I still prefer the colors and warmth of the original. The loss of some detail doesn't trouble me--I think the essentials are there, conveying a small moment in the lives of the three subjects. Again, thanks for your time and comments...Bill Link to comment
dankapsner 0 Posted July 25, 2004 I prefer the color version and do not mind the loss of detail. Flash would have attracted attention and perhaps caused a conflict. Candid work is a trade off sometimes...in this case a grab shot allowed you to capture a moment unobserved. Link to comment
