Shot with my new 60mm macro lens through glass tank, still razor sharp.

Shot inside the National Aquarium in Washington DC. I don't know the name of this fish, but I like the color. Flash was fired at an angle to avoid reflection.

Scorpion, oh. Thanks, Greg. Now I know. I should read the caption next to the tank, rather than the f stops. :D

Lighting was very tricky in this case. I had to fire flash, but I was too lazy to bracket the amount. Next time, I would manually decrease/increase the flash, or change angles so the what's being bounced off the glass tank varies -- assume the fish would stay. :D

Another tricky side is that I was on the macro mode of the lens (only 10 inches away, fish is almost full frame), in which ring or axial lighting is recommended for sharpness in the dark. But because an angle is needed to avoid the reflection, axial lighing was't an option. Flash ring isn't at my disposal. That's all the lessons I learned so far from reading and trying on close-up photography.

Thanks for the constructive comments.

Nice and difficult shot. This is the kind of subject that I cant define as beautiful or ugly, but definitely a masterpiece of nature and yours.
