alecee 0 Posted July 22, 2004 A photographer's delight - especially in the evening light. Unfortunately we were not able to stay until twilight to take the evening shots here at Bodie State Historic Park Link to comment
alecee 0 Posted July 23, 2004 Thanks guys. My recommendation is to go back there during Autumn or early Winter when the sun sets earlier so you can catch the evening glow as the park closes at 6pm. Link to comment
salvatore.mele 1 Posted July 23, 2004 Alec. why did you choose to get also the building on the back? Colours are pleasent also at this hour of the day, though. Link to comment
jmcconnell2 0 Posted July 23, 2004 Hi Alec, this is a great scene, and you took a superb photo. The well balanced composition, along with deep dof, good light,(a TINY bit dark), makes this one a keeper. 7/6 regards, -Jim Link to comment
alecee 0 Posted July 24, 2004 Hi Salvatore, I just wanted to make a comparison of the wood colors and the cloud puff on the left would have been slashed if I cropped the image. This is done from an IMac in LA. Thanks Francesco, Jim yes it's a keeper and I'll lighten it for a print. The clarity is amazing there. I really must work on my computer which is better calibrated for colors. Link to comment
Tuhin 2 Posted July 24, 2004 Great lighting , colour and as always trademark Alec sharpness.. Link to comment
aepelbacher 0 Posted July 24, 2004 I like the building in the back ... it adds depth to the composition. I also love the colors ... the rusty color of the wood and the dark blue of the sky. This is a wonderful shot ... the kind of shot that makes ME want to be a landscape photographer!! Great work, Alec! Link to comment
Guest Guest Posted July 24, 2004 This image is great too. I like the angle of the shot. Thee is enough of a hint of the tin structure added on the other side. The extra bulding at rear gives scale to the church for mine. The large spacing between the cloud gives me that classic prarie feel, not that I've beeen anywhere near one! I read calls for more light and I agree, I'm keen to study the way the timber weatherboards meet each other and a little more light might give more clues. I'm sure you made the very best fist of your opportunities (as usual). Again the frame it's in really adds value to the composition. Link to comment

jayme 0 Posted July 25, 2004 Nice image. Your color is so much better when I save to my computer and open in PS, than PN's display, the reds are so much more saturated and beautiful. I wish they'd do something about the color on PN, seems to be mostly red that gets desaturated, wonder why? Anyway nice image, I have seen similar images on PN, Question: Why does everyone leave the perspective a little a skew? I think it makes it look like the camera is a little rotated to the left? Is it the distortion of a wide angle lens? At any rate, nice color, beautiful sky, and intersting subject. Link to comment
dmitri_zakovorotny1 0 Posted July 25, 2004 Maybe this church have a soul... Very peaceful.6/6. Link to comment
alecee 0 Posted July 25, 2004 Thanks Dmitri, perhaps you're right about having a soul, after all Bodie town is more deserted compared to Calico Ghost Town which caters to tourists. Jayme, sharp eyes you have. Yes, it's a little tilted due to the wide angle lens. I could have use the perspective control to adjust it. Point noted. Link to comment
bobby douglas 0 Posted September 29, 2004 Dan Heller was able to stay for some night shots I wonder if its hard to get permission to do this? http://www.danheller.com/bodie-nite Link to comment
