Guest Guest Posted July 18, 2004 'bout time you drug out the holga. I love these old gas stations, the square buildings with the glass fronts. This one looks really old. as always I find your shots superb. Knicki Link to comment

luc_dewaele 0 Posted July 18, 2004 You know Walker Evans? Robert Frank? I guess so. I love it. Link to comment
root 0 Posted July 18, 2004 The right camera for the subject. This might respond well to a session with colored spotlights. :-) Link to comment
sarahunderhill 1 Posted July 18, 2004 I love these old, abandoned building photos. This one is in the right setting. Great work with the Holga. Link to comment
robertbrown 1 Posted July 20, 2004 Thanks for all of the comments--I love buildings like this, as well as the work of Walker Evans and Robert Frank. When I retire (if I retire?), I plan to take frequent long road trips and shoot Americana--while not terribly original, I like the adventure of it. Carl, the Holga only has two shutter speeds: bright sun and mixed sun (though I know at least one person who has modified her Holga to take night shots), so I'm not sure about spot lights. I'm thinking about re-shooting this and either putting my dog or a person in the bottom right to balance out the composition and to add another layer of interest. We'll see. Thanks again for all of your comments! Link to comment
root 0 Posted July 20, 2004 I was thinking in terms of my camera setup, not a Holga. The subject would pick up colors well unless there was some serious light polution (as there often is). I've had similar thoughts about shooting Americana . . .diners mostly. Link to comment
