geert_vanden_wijngaert 0 Posted July 14, 2004 The Shandur Polo Tournament in Pakistan is played at the Shandur Pass, the highest pologround in the world (alt 3720m - 12400ft). The 3 best teams from Gilgit and Chitral play this big tournament since almost 400 years. The conventional polo rules are not in use for this tournament, the only rule there is, is that there are no rules, so the games are quiet violent. The game is very demanding for horse and man because of the low amount of oxygene, very high temperatures and the dusty surroundings. In this scene a Gilgit supporter is seen while he checks the Gilgit horses condition early in the morning prior to the C team final game. All opinions welcome...please visit also my Shandur Polo Tournament presentation. Link to comment
