salvatore.mele 1 Posted July 11, 2004 I liked the way this big cairn was standing in front of a glacier in the Swiss alps... a bit of a sentinel, a bit of relief and welcome sight for the walkers looking for their way... and you? What works for you? And, most important, what does not? Thanks for any comments you might have. Cheers, s. Link to comment
sacha_de_carlo 0 Posted July 11, 2004 Nothing wrong with this shot. The only thing I can say is that the thing you call sentinel is actually distracting, or the background is (because too beautiful). Did you see the artificial lake up there ? Did u visit the Val d'Herens ? Link to comment
bryan_travis 0 Posted July 11, 2004 First thing I thought was that it needed a stronger foreground element to balance out the snowy background. Perhaps raising the saturation would bring out a bit of color in grass and rock of the cairn? Link to comment
dhiren 0 Posted July 11, 2004 nice landscape...looks more like hardscape....nice textures...just wondering if the stone pillar is your main subject, it looks lost ...or would like to see some sense of scale in the back ground...may be cattle or a human Link to comment
Guest Guest Posted July 12, 2004 Salvatore, a breath-taking landscape. The cairn seems to blend into the background a bit. Maybe more saturation would bring it out better? Excellent exposure. Link to comment
chris pastella 0 Posted July 12, 2004 Great compo, good exposure, great (early autumn ?) colors. Would even work well in BW. You make the mountains lovable - and make me long for that place (and it reminds me I have some old pix from Chanrion - maybe later in my portfolio). No other suggestion this time ;-) cheers, chris Link to comment
roberto p 0 Posted July 13, 2004 A very well composed and beautiful mountain landscape. Congrats! Link to comment
aivarmikko 0 Posted July 13, 2004 Good composition and breathtaking glacier. Felt need to go into mountains again. Link to comment
ddamian 0 Posted July 14, 2004 Very good crisp shot. The texture details you captured are excellent. Very good exposure too. I wish the cairn would stand out more from the similar toned rocks. Maybe a lower angle would have worked a little better in that regard. I almost think this could have been two great shots. One from the angle you have here to capture the breathtaking expanse of the glacier and another one from a lower angle to place the cairn against the lighter colored rocks/ice or even the sky. poutnik 1 Posted July 16, 2004 This one is great, but I have to agree with Didi about the stones in foreground... jiri Link to comment
micheleberti 0 Posted July 16, 2004 Beautiful composition and a very suggestive place. I'd only try to add some more contrast. Well done! Link to comment
pnital 36 Posted July 19, 2004 Very strong image! great texture captured. I think that if you separate the black frame with a thin brighter line it will be better for the image. Pnina Link to comment
carsten_ranke 0 Posted July 22, 2004 Gorgeous landscape, nothing to improvefor me in colors, lighting, contrast, texture. I am torn between Sacha`s impression that the cairn is distracting and your idea. Without the foreground, the scenery would need a scale item (person, trees). Regards, Carsten Link to comment
Link to comment
