If I were to change _anything_ it would be to de-emphasize the bright hatband. It just seems to be out of place out of the otherwise mellow tone of the portrait. I liked the color version as well. Very good work.

Very nice. Lots of character in that face. Coloring is great.

I like the colors and the portrait itself. I would only consider reducing saturation just a little bit

Another good portrait of this man. Great face to photograph. I might also take out some color,,,but who knows, every screen is a little different and you never know when you upload. I like the tight crop.

The bright spots in the background are a little distracting, but this has great texture and detail. I can't decide if I like the color version or the sepia version best.

Both versions work for me. This one is instantly recognizable as being from Howard. ^_^

Personally, I like the other better. It doesn't have as much texture in the beard as the other, although I do like it.

Perhaps slightly less zoom? I find myself wanting to see just a tad more - the eyes about 10% lower in the picture?

 

Very distinct image. The bright spots don't bother me but I could see how they would be distracting to some. You might want to tone them down. I think the image would be even stronger witha darker background.
