home page1 0 Posted July 10, 2004 Helluva shot! The texture in this guy's beard is remarkable. Looks like he'd have to use a rake to comb it. Really nice detail and composition. Link to comment
wilsontsoi 0 Posted July 10, 2004 Howard, the up-close-n-personal type of candid portraiture really is your forte. Texture is tremendous, and the red background is perfectly simple. Why does he seem sad anyway? BTW, do you mean the same Mr. Z on PN? ^_^ Link to comment
kslonaker 0 Posted July 11, 2004 Very intense portrait. A friend of ours used to look similar to this and his wife (now his ex-wife) made him shave his beard, mustache, and cut his hair short. Took 10 years off of him, but he was never the same after that. Link to comment
ajpn 0 Posted July 11, 2004 Ken nailed it~! Hey Wilson, maybe his wofe just left him, or made him an ultimatum ~!? ;-) Link to comment
pawel_stradowski 0 Posted July 11, 2004 I like the mood, but IMHO red is too intensive Cheers Link to comment
wilsontsoi 0 Posted July 11, 2004 @nthony, you may be right, kinda like what Kim said, may be he was told to shave it all off by tomorrow. It all made sense now. What'd ya say, Howard? ^_^ Link to comment
home page1 0 Posted July 11, 2004 Where do you get subjects like this? Do you know this guy or do you just go up to strangers and ask permission or both? I don't do very many people portraits so don't have much experience and am curious. Thanks. Link to comment
afterthoughts 0 Posted July 11, 2004 Perfect Stranger. I just ask people if I can take their picture. Most don't mind if you give them a reason. For example: "I take pictures of people with hats, can I take your picture?" Link to comment
Guest Guest Posted July 12, 2004 "Excuse me. I take pictures of people with obscenely thick beards who wear hats and have either blue or green eyes. Obviously, what are the odds? Can I take your picture?" MAN! Now that's a beard. This guy could be one serious "Young Santa." Good balance in the picture. Great detail on the beard and well capture expression. Link to comment
