billangel 9,671 Posted July 4, 2004 These two images were taken within a few minutes of each other at the Capitol Mall in Washington DC. By displaying them together in this fashion, the young girl on the left appears to be beckoning to persons outside of the image, persons who are perhaps much older than she is. My intent here is to use her gesture as a link to connect to the individuals in the other image in this magazine style layout. The consequence of this connection is, I believe, to heighten the stark contrast between the child's joyful mood and the somber mood of the individuals in the other image. Link to comment
billangel 9,671 Posted July 4, 2004 Sure, I'm happy with the result. In fact I came up with the idea AFTER I had made the images. It was the result of looking at the final images and realizing that I could present them together in a way that was more effective than simply exhibiting them separately. The two images can be viewed separately and full size at Girl Drawing with Crayons and Tired Tourists Link to comment
