I guess I just discovered that I like this picture better in Black and White! Here is the 'in your face' version for you to have a look at!

Whilst looking through old photographs I discovered that I quite

like this in black and white! I guess if you look this good anyone

can take a nice photograph. That said, I would be grateful for

constructive feedback.

I like the "In Your Face" face shot because it allows you to focus more on the eyes, but, at the same time, the image seems to take on a wierd trapazoidal shape when glanced at. The noncropped, with the quirky hair and the expression on the face, seems to present a much happier pic and I couldn't help but smile when I first saw it. Very enjoyable to look at.

This is the only photograph I ever managed to take of this girl! I met her in the street and she kindly allowed me to photograph her. I will email her your comment in the hope that I can get her to pose for me again! She really has the most striking features of any girl I have photographed. The original colour version can be seem in my Portraits folder!

I may upload the 'In your face' version as a stand alone image later to see what kind of reaction it gets!

The more I look at it, the more I like it!

David:

Be proud of this one. It is a gem. Although I crop a good bit, I like the full face version better. Well done old boy.

I appreciate all your comments Owen! This really is a simple shot which I am glad I have taken! At the end of the day it is the girl that shines!

No make up! No predetermined pose. Just a chance meeting and raw beauty!

Thanks though! I do like it! (I do think you are converting me to B&W!) Actually, I always liked B&W. I just think it is harder to get a brilliant image in this format! Maybe I am lazy!

I loved it in colour and I love it in BW - she does have that 'something special' but you captured it so that is kudos to you!! I prefer the full version - I love her wispy hair and the scarf and yes the lighting is lovely soft and subtle, just like the beautiful girl. She has such a kind and sweet face.

Thanks Amanda. I have been revisiting a lot of my photos and seeing what they look like in black and white! I felt this was a winner and so I uploaded it for comparison!

Thanks again!

Very spontaneous and lively. Works great as is, David. Don't care for that tighter cropping suggestion.

It's all Owen's fault that I uploaded this B&W image anyway! I was playing with some old photos and I felt that this really did look good in B&W.

As for the tight Crop! I may upload it as a stand alone image later to see what kind of reaction it gets!

Thanks for looking.

I much prefer the uncropped version. A confident personality comes through, underscored by the explosion of wild hair and the way she holds her head. I think the tight crop loses those qualities. The photo is well suited to B&W. I find it hard to imagine in color. Uncropped it is a wonderful portrait.

Their is a colour version of this in my 'Portraits' folder!

The black and white seems better received! Thanks for your comments!

Every time I scrolled by this photo I was drawn to it. It really pulls me in, her beauty, sassy hair, the almost-Mona-Lisa smile and the stark BW delivery. It's a wow photo for me. So glad you took it.
