wilsontsoi 0 Posted July 3, 2004 Wasn't that a magical place, Ken? Were you up there for a sunrise, too? This is an awesome place and scenery. The composition is a classic and the clouds at 6,000 feet elevation further adds depth. However, I can't quite figure out the "canvas" texture look, and also fell that some serious "warming" is needed to get that bluish cast out. Still, nice. Link to comment
someoneelse 1 Posted July 4, 2004 Wilson did a great job warming this up, but I like both Link to comment
home page1 0 Posted July 4, 2004 Wilson's take on this is really eye popping and surreal. It's been awhile since I took this shot but I don't remember it being THAT warm a color in the valley. Link to comment
afterthoughts 0 Posted July 4, 2004 This must be one of the first photographs of the end of the earth. Really, you can see where the earth ends and the sky begins. Really, this is an amazing shot. Link to comment
home page1 0 Posted July 4, 2004 It's an amazing place. Wish I got a good shot of the other islands from this vantage point. It's incredible to see the tops of the other islands rising above the clouds from the ocean's floor. Link to comment
pawel_stradowski 0 Posted July 4, 2004 Very nice work but IMHO the frame is too heavy Link to comment
colin carron 58,916 Posted July 4, 2004 With respect to Wilson I prefer your original with its subtle foreground colours merging into that flecked sky. Link to comment
WJT 627 Posted July 5, 2004 This is a nice photograph. I agree somewhat with Tsoi's rendition; the original seemed a little blue (or cyan) to me too. I have a somewhat similar photograph and it was much warmer overall. Haleakala However, from where you took this, the color looks very similar to the area on the left in mine. Regards. home page1 0 Posted July 5, 2004 Thanks for your commment. I really like your photo. It is a much different perspective than mine, as it is a wide angle. Pretty neat seeing another shot from the same place. You are correct - the bluish cast is evident in that part of your photo that contains my shot. Link to comment
Guest Guest Posted July 6, 2004 Interesting perspective. The tones don't both me as much. It looks really neat from this angle. The water in the distnce looks blurred. That keep scatching my eye and distracts me a bit. My wife and I honeymooned in Maui. We did the sunrise at Haneakala and road bikes down the volcano to a little town like 20 miles away for a Champagne brunch. It was quite memorable. This photo takes me back. Thanks for sharing. jayme 0 Posted April 10, 2006 OK all, take note!I saw this image in person........ in the warmed up version. It is outstanding. Reminds me of a lithograph. It is gorgeous, no kidding! A definite 10/10. I'd hang it, and I'm pretty damn particular about what I will actual hang on my walls!!!! Perfect, it sucks you right in and keeps you there!!!!! Simply amazing. Link to comment
