chas._taylor 0 Posted July 3, 2004 Everything is out of focus even though it is a very difficult subject. Link to comment
Guest Guest Posted July 3, 2004 The out of focus question contributes to the dynamic of this image IMHO, very good! Link to comment
afterthoughts 0 Posted July 3, 2004 Maybe the beating wings make the bee appear more out of focus than he actually is out of focus. Link to comment
ljk 0 Posted July 3, 2004 Howard, first let me say that the composition is excellent. The out of focus branch and flowers behind the bee really works well. The colors are wonderful too. That being said, the slight lack of focus in the bee doesn't bother me a bit. His suspension is amazing as it is, and I like the picture overall.... Link to comment
sarahunderhill 1 Posted July 3, 2004 The bee does have a funky look to him from the wings. The background couldn't be more perfect, with the bee lined up with the flower behind it. Great capture. Anyone that can get a photo like this is very patience and fast with the camera. Link to comment
home page1 0 Posted July 3, 2004 Excellent composition, wonderful colors, and great foreground. Can't help it bee otherwise, but the bothersome bee bugs me. Buh, buh, buh... :-) Link to comment
wilsontsoi 0 Posted July 3, 2004 No, the softness of the bee doesn't bother me, the shallow DOF is good, and the sharpness of flowers is there. Compositionally sound. If you're going to do anything further at all, then I would suggest emphasizing its wings by mean of darkening and/or lightening them so that they will "read" more readily to viewers. Great capture, Howard! Link to comment
john_bourgon 0 Posted July 4, 2004 This is a very hard shot to make. That said this shot comes close. I can see the camera on a tripod just waiting for that bee to come in. I am guessing but I belive a remote control and multishot was used. Damn good capture, to bad the focus is not on the bee. How you would do that I have no clue:)! Link to comment
pawel_stradowski 0 Posted July 4, 2004 I like that one, I like the way you have frozen the subject Link to comment
colin carron 58,916 Posted July 4, 2004 Oh very good Howard! The bee is moving like the busy bee it is. It would probably bee improved with a higher shutter speed or with greater depth of field but I admire it as it is! Link to comment
ronnievalentine 0 Posted July 4, 2004 Howard, I've decided not to cite the hundreds of puns that came to my brain and instead stay on the subject at hand. First of all the focus of the bee is not bothersome to me at all. I think this capture denotes movement IMHO. The composition and the color is wonderful. I'm not sure that a tighter focus would have improved this captures aesthetics. It's a great shot and one I would be proud off. Link to comment
gabriella_lucia 0 Posted July 4, 2004 I know how difficult these are to capture. Well done. Link to comment
micheleberti 0 Posted July 6, 2004 The bee is not sharp enought imo. Nevertheless the composition and colours are outstanding. We cannot see exif data so it is pretty hard to say if this could depend on the aperture value, because it looks as the bee is a bit back the flower on the foreground so the wide aperture used to blur the background could be the problem... if a problem actually exist! Guest Guest Posted July 6, 2004 GREAT stop action shot. The colors are really nice and the DOF is perfect. This is a really nice shot. Good job. Link to comment
