cappoldt 0 Posted June 30, 2004 Laszlo, what's funny is that the bird is nearly invisible in the image, and the title of the photo is, "Beautiful Bird." Sarcasm! Absolutely hilarious to me...also, Laszlo, the red arrow and circle only add to it. What I fear now is that YOU were kidding, and now this post is even funnier with my response;) Link to comment

timnichols 0 Posted June 30, 2004 I like subtle jokes that sneak up on us. This one came out of left field and I didn't see it coming. Thanks for the laugh. Link to comment
mspanakis 0 Posted June 30, 2004 Bob, I love your controversial art. The most successful pieces are the aestethically "ugliest" ones. Are those that tell the viewer: "come on, wake up, see at last the world with your own eyes, imagine, think, critique...". As it is usually the case in art, I do not know if that was your (the artist's) intention. It does not really matter. This is how your works work on me and perhaps on others. This particular one, I wouldn't like to hang it in my living-room. But I spent much more time looking at it and reflecting than I can usually affort to dedicate to "beautiful" pieces. The arrow and the circle make reading much easier and amusing (this is why 6 rather than 7 for Originality). I wonder what rates you would collect with the pure photograph alone with its title. Inspired by you (and by a theatrical play by Yasmina Reza called "Art"), today I presented for critique an minimalist photo that I had taken back in the early 90's ("Insignificant balcony drain"). The thing cannot be ugly because there is practically nothing on it. However, the results were rather catastrophic. I do not know if I should consider the rain of 1 and 2s as a success or a failure. Have a good day (it is accually night here) and keep it up. Link to comment
hlaszlo 0 Posted July 1, 2004 Thank you Christopher, now I see what is the point. For some reason usually I am the last one to understand a joke of whatever sort. But now I realise that this image is funny indeed. Link to comment
stevemarcus 0 Posted July 1, 2004 With respect to this forum, there's nothing I like more than looking at a photo and getting a REALLY good laugh. You made me LOL. Just about made my day, which has been pretty bad up to now. Link to comment
