stevemarcus 0 Posted June 27, 2004 Very beautiful Colorado fall scene, Steven! What time of year was this shot taken? I assume those are Aspen trees. Am I right? Link to comment
california-seascapes-photo 0 Posted June 27, 2004 Hi Steve, Yes they are Aspens and just south of Aspen, Colorado. (: I am trying to remember the date the best I can, but it was right around October 10th "give or take a couple days". This was the first time I had been here or to Colorado for that matter, hope to return some day soon. Link to comment
stevemarcus 0 Posted June 27, 2004 Thanks for the info, Steven. A fall trip to CO is definitely high on my "Things I Really Would Like to Do One Day" list. Link to comment
pauli.peura 0 Posted June 27, 2004 It's interesting that in my head this picture seems to be tilted to the right and those mountains feel like they are slipping out from the picture. Is just me or does anyone else experience anything similar ?-) Link to comment
california-seascapes-photo 0 Posted June 27, 2004 I really didnt notice this before, but I think you may be right (-: I will adjust. Link to comment
pauli.peura 0 Posted June 27, 2004 Steven: Well the tilting is (or was?-) only very very slight in my eyes, and depends if you look mainly those mountains or the whole picture. Great colors (as always) and I especially like that dark mountain on the left. Link to comment
jmontgomery 0 Posted June 27, 2004 Interesting perspective (most Aspen shots fill the frame ... you found another way)! I like this shot of the Aspens. Did you get any other Aspen shots? Link to comment
california-seascapes-photo 0 Posted June 27, 2004 Absolutely J., its funny you should ask.(: Just "east" of Aspen, CO I found these people from New York who also enjoyed their visit amongst the Aspens and photographed them walking through beautiful freshly fallen yellow Aspen leaves.(-: Link to comment
ljk 0 Posted June 27, 2004 You excel in any location. I especially love the dark mountain on the left. It creates tension and balance at the same time.... Link to comment
michael_ritchie 0 Posted June 27, 2004 Another Beautiful landscape as can only be expected. Keep on doing your great work Steven. Link to comment
vincetylor 0 Posted June 27, 2004 Beautiful mountains and a wonderful array of colors Steve. The hint of blue is just the right amount to balance all of the yellows and browns. I doubt there is anything you can do about it, but the very dark mountain ridge on the left moderately takes away from the rest of the scene in my honest opinion. But then again, since another comment actually likes it as is, perhaps it might just be my personal preference and not that big of a deal. As always nice work. Link to comment
california-seascapes-photo 0 Posted June 27, 2004 Yes, this is a tough place to photograph, the sun rises over to the left leaving the left side of the valley in shadow. While the slide does show detail, it is quite dark and I dont think there is much hope of bringing it out with a desktop scanner. Maybe some day I will try a drum scan on this, but I am more focused on my seascapes for now anyways. Link to comment
california-seascapes-photo 0 Posted June 28, 2004 Just for the heck of it here is another comp with less of the dark hillside. I think I like the bells being centered though. Link to comment
wilsontsoi 0 Posted June 28, 2004 I would vote for the re-crop with less black hill. Nevertheles, very pleasant. Link to comment
tracywynn 0 Posted June 28, 2004 Great shot! I live in Aspen, and I took a shot along the road up to the Bells last September. Maybe I'll catch you up here in the fall. Link to comment
