Sierra Waterfall After Sunset

johncrosley

Nikon F2AS, 135mm, with 2x tele-extender, Kodak Ektachrome transparancy (slide) film. Blue cast is result of (1) reflected post-sundown sky and (2) reciprocity failure of color transparency film (inability of film to process colors equally during long exposure). No filters. Unmanipulated. Full frame. Hand held. 2-4 sec exposure (photographer well-braced)

A low stream flows in a well-carved stream-bed, Eastern Sierra,

after sunset. Blue cast from (1) exposure after sunset reflecting

bluish light from evening sky and (2) reciprocity failure from

transparency film (Ektachrome 125) during long (2-4 sec.) handheld

exposure. (yes the photographer was well-braced.) Your ratings and

comments are most welcome. No filters or manipulation/color exactly

as delivered from Kodak in the slide box! (Please submit a helpful

and constructive comment if you give a harsh or negative

rating/Please share your superior knowledge to help advance my

photography). Thanks and Enjoy! John.

This is unlike many waterfall shots we've seen on this site. I like particularly the texture of the cold stones. I don't mind the color cast, I think it adds something to the cold feeling...

and I don't mind the colour cast at all either. Extremely beautifull and surprisingly unique both in composition and lighting. A great find! I'm looking for a flaw... and its hard to find one, my only suggestion would be to make a slight crop and remove some of the top portion of the photo (an area that I think the image could do better without).

BTW: Just finished reading the long feed-back post about the identification of raters on the rating grid being removed, your lengthy and articulate post was spot on, and you spoke for many PNetters - thanks. Just stopped by and saw this photo (which is very good), and can't wait to browse your full portfolio at leisure. You are "interesting".
