wernher 0 Posted June 25, 2004 I like it and as already stated, good choice of perspective. I noticed something strange: on my LCD monitor many artifacts can be seen around cables but on my CRT monitor it looks good. I'll go with the CRT monitor! Link to comment
mauricio alcaraz carbia 0 Posted June 26, 2004 Muy interesante composicion. Las lineas de fuga de cada cable le dan dimension a la foto. Me gusta bastante por simple. Link to comment
wayne_young1 0 Posted June 26, 2004 The reason you see "stuff" around the cables on an LCD and not on a CRT has to do with a lot of things, but is primarily because an LCD can not display as many colors as a CRT. Typically, LCD panels only have 6 bits of resolution per color channel and so can only display 64 levels of that color. In this particular instance, there will be no green or red present in the sky, so there will be very few levels to represent the blue. LCD panels often use dithering to give the appearance of being able to represent more colors, but they are fundamentally low-color resolution devices. Add to that an LCD panel's higher contrast, and you get more visible artifacts on an LCD compared to a CRT. Finally, the root cause of the stuff around tha cables is the fact that the image has been compressed with JPEG compression. The strange blockiness around the cables is due to the JPEG compression and will be present on a CRT too - it's just that you wont notice it as much. Link to comment
guillelobera 0 Posted June 28, 2004 I think too that the root cause of the stuff around tha cables is the fact that the image has been compressed with JPEG compression in PHOTONET. You can see (very neat) the same image with the same JPEG compresion in: http://not.contaxg.com Link to comment
