Yup ... I'm with Lannie on that! This has to be one of my favorites of all of your gorgeous mountain images. The amazing thing about mountain scenes like this is that the surrounding land (here, the foreground) is completely flat ... then, boom ... up shoots an amazing and huge mountain peak. Wonderful work, Steve!!

Aesthetics aside, Steve, there is a technical problem here. The main snow and cloud are significant areas of blown highlight. Were they like this on the neg, or have you just pushed the levels too hard in your post-processing? If the latter is true, you should be able to rescue some lost detail with a re-scan.

Barry, I'll give credit where credit is due. I agree with you that the main snow and clouds of the original upload had significant areas of blown highlights. I redid the post-processing of the original scan to fix this. IMO, it looks o.k. now on my home computer, which is an eMac.

Most people don't examine an image critically enough to fully assess its quality,

either aesthetic or technical. On very rare and lucky occasions some

supremely helpful critic will enable you to realise your image's full potential.

Excellent, I wish I was there.

A quick comment. You have pushed the gamut to 100% yet there is not much contrast in the shadows in the mountains, and the pine trees are a bit to bright - the color of fresh buds not mature trees.

Alex, I may have been too aggressive with USM, hence the "brightness" of the trees. I will try to correct this when I get home tonight. The contrast in the shadows in the mountains will vary greatly depending on monitor calibration and gamma settings used. Indeed, this image is a good example to use for seeing how greatly image brightness, contrast, and color can vary with monitor gamma settings. In sRGB or "default" modes, on my monitor at least, the shadow contrast is mediocre. However, the contrast very good when I use any of my three calibrated settings.
