Great timing and nice shot giving image a sense of high velocity movement

I love the panned shots. I just cleaned my sensor for Indy this weekend, I'm hoping my 70-200 will get me close enough. Just curious, I see this is at 1/90, was it a pretty fast corner? Is setting the shutter speed for panning kind of trial and error?

Very nicely done. My first few attempts at hand panning were quite un-successful. This gives me something to work towards. As Tim asked, is there guideline for what shutter speed to use for panning? Did you fire just one shot at a time? Or make use of the 3fps?
