Jenny, Impromptu

sjmurray

I used a home brew Vitamin C/phenidone variation of Pat Gainer's formulations. Very fine grained.

I like to do "portraits" that are nearly candid, with natural

light. What do you guys/women think of this one?

I have a preference myself for this kind of portrait ... less artifical, more authentic than much of the portraiture one sees, in which the photographer works to manipulate the subject into a preconceived "natural" (really unnatural) pose.

Ah, the model was younger here and already that sultry yet confident look! Well captured Steve, but I think that both the other and this image are too cropped. Though it is necessary to focus on the essential, I find it useful to leave just enough space for the eye to wander around. An attractive image nevertheless, though I would give it a couple or so more inches below.

I appreciate your point about cropping John. I am a severe "cropper" I'm afraid. I'm always trying to eliminate any elements that distract from the main focus. I do it so much that someone recently referred to this as my "style" in a way. I need to practice doing more full length shots of people.
