sjmurray 33,395 Posted June 17, 2004 I like to do "portraits" that are nearly candid, with natural light. What do you guys/women think of this one? Link to comment
vorlandphotography 0 Posted June 17, 2004 I have a preference myself for this kind of portrait ... less artifical, more authentic than much of the portraiture one sees, in which the photographer works to manipulate the subject into a preconceived "natural" (really unnatural) pose. Link to comment
peter_svensson 0 Posted June 17, 2004 Very nice! Beautiful light and gradation. The natural pose makes me feel like I'm really seeing the person. Link to comment
wernher 0 Posted June 18, 2004 Yes, the natural light works for. It's a fine portrait with a "cleanly" feel to it. Link to comment
John Peri 1,007 Posted August 22, 2005 Ah, the model was younger here and already that sultry yet confident look! Well captured Steve, but I think that both the other and this image are too cropped. Though it is necessary to focus on the essential, I find it useful to leave just enough space for the eye to wander around. An attractive image nevertheless, though I would give it a couple or so more inches below. Link to comment
sjmurray 33,395 Posted August 23, 2005 I appreciate your point about cropping John. I am a severe "cropper" I'm afraid. I'm always trying to eliminate any elements that distract from the main focus. I do it so much that someone recently referred to this as my "style" in a way. I need to practice doing more full length shots of people. Link to comment
