Most lightning photos use long shutter speeds to record multiple

strokes, at the expense of cloud detail. I prefer lightning images

with cloud detail, and feel the lightning stroke itself should be

the "icing on the cake" of a good lightning image. Would do you

think? I like this shot, but haven't taken the time to dodge/burn

and extract the detail in the blown out portions of the clouds in

the right/center. This will be able to be extracted from the RAW

file when I take the time...

Sometimes you just know when something is really, really good! What timing to catch the lightning and the colorful contrast in the sky! Bravo!

This is a very cool shot. That's the advantage of living on the western shore of my favorite Great Lake. You get all the storms once they leave Wisconsin and come over to my side! :)

I wish I had more water here near Tucson. This is a superb image already, probably spectacular when you get to "tweak" it a bit. I shoot lightning using a cable release most of the time and close the shutter after the first strike. I too like to preserve the detail in the sky and clouds. It also is very nice to get some light on the forground. The reflection off the water does the trick here. Care to lend me a lake???
