Blue Angels 2004 - Last pass over the beach before heading home.

f1-fanatic

Blue Angels 2004 - Hand held w/ hood. PS-CS (Demo) - unsharp mask used to slightly sharpen and crop, Shadow/Highlight, and because I am not the best photographer I used the clone tool to add the nose of the lead plane which I cut off when capturing this. These planes were maybe 60 feet above our heads when they came up behind us on this last pass. It was incredible!

Norman, found this from a comment you left elsewhere. Now that is a picture of the Blue Angels. Expertly exposed and the colors are great.

I agree, the exposure and colors are fantastic. I wish I'd had that kind of light when I shot. Again, excellent - from fellow Blue Angel shooter.

The light is that reflected onto the jets from the sand on the beach... I tell you, they were low.... REALLY LOW. :)

Going to 2 shows this summer.. can't wait! I might even rent a 400 2.8 for it. Will post when I do. Thanks for the kind words and for looking at my shots.

This is my second favorite of your Blue Angels photos. A good case of less is more, or maybe it's more is more in the sense that there's more airplane and less blue space in this pic than in the whole-formation shots.

The close cropping works here because it squeezes the content of the picture and emphasizes the closeness of the formation. Good stuff.

Norman,

Fantastic shot!! I am new to DSLR (about 2-3 months) and this website. I recently went to Andrews AFB for the yearly airshow and took a few pics. Would really appreciate it if you could give me some feedback and tips on how to improve my pictures.

Thanks,

Ed Rodriguez
