As always your comments and ratings (good or bad) are greatly

appreciated.

Also I would like to mention that these photographs are in no way a

political statement.. These are photographs of pilots pushing their

equipment and physical abilities to the limit. This in my mind as a

photographer is no different than that of any other athlete at the

top of their form such as that of a Formula One driver and his

machine. -N

Norman, I really appreciate the additional technical data. As a 10D user as well, it certainly will save me a lot of time and shots as well in future shoots. Thanks.

I attended the New York Air Show this past weekend while visiting with some friends. It was a difficult day in that we almost didn't even go because my friends brother gave the show a lackluster review and although I just purchased a 70-200 f/2.8 with a 2x TC it looked as if we were just going to sit around the house and not bother with the trip.

Sunday morning arrived with my friend banging on the door to wake me up saying what he heard from his father was in direct contradiction to what his brother relayed the evening prior regarding the performance. So with the thought of seeing an air show over one of Long Islands public beaches with my new 10D and lenses in hand really got my juices flowing Not to mention that there would be some of the worlds best aviators on hand flying some ultra-high performance machines including a number of military jets which have been stripped down for aerobatic demonstrations.

I jumped out of bed, grabbed my photo gear, and headed down to Jones Beach where I had to really sell my friend and his brother on the idea of walking out onto the beach rather than stand some 300yds back on the boardwalk only to be annoyed by the security personnel who wanted to keep that area clear of pedestrians. I ended up walking down to the water on my own and do some searching around for an open area before heading all the way back just to get the crowd of family members and drag them back to the water all in the effort to get a better shot. Anyway I was able to capture some unbelievable maneuvers all while still learning how to use my new camera and lenses. The photo above marks the 1st pass of the F-16 over the beach and then out the ocean. All I can say is my friends brother was difficult to say the least and after the show it was hard to get him to stop talking about how incredible the show was from the sand. -N
