Somehow I don't think this attractive lady is going to be very flattered by this one. It needs softer lighting, better focusing and not sure what her expression is about.

IMHO the eyes and the expression are what conveys the personality of the subeject. Shadows can help establish a mood or feeling but here the eyes are just lost in the shadows and that missing visual cue makes her expression somewhat ambigous. If your intent was to convey some emotion its hard to see what the subject is feeling because too much of her expression is also lost in the shadows. This isn't a flattering portrait or an image that effectively conveys a feeling or mood. I'm sorry if this doesn't help much. If you don't mind posting the intention of this image (is she supposed to be angry? standoff-ish?) then you can get more advice about how to create an image that succesfully conveys your idea. Please don't be discouraged though because its just my opinion and I'm only making this comment to offer what little advice I can to help improve the aesthetic elements of your image.

i disagree about needing the eyes to convey expression, emotion, mood, in disagreement with many people i'm sure, but eyes do lie, i think her posture, slight grimace, flared nostrals, i think it conveys pain being masked, i think its remarkable and saying that this beautiful woman wouldnt be flattered? i think that flattery is hardly the only thing needed to have a beautiful photograph, photos arent always and shouldnt be about flattery but about truth

This photograph is one of my favorites. Compared to the other images of Katia, she looks very grown up here. I like that you can't see her eyes because it is almost as if there is something she has experienced along her path to adulthood that she isn't ready to share. It doesn't even look like her, but overall it's an interesting picture. Great job.
