cghubbell 0 Posted May 27, 2004 Hello, This is one of the first shots I've taken with my new Nikon D70, and my first venture into photo.net. My intent was to capture two senses in this image: The sense of smallness that comes with standing on the edge of a large body of water, and the contemplative nature of that same experience. As a broader goal, I hope this image is enjoyable to others. The location of this image is easily accessible to me, and I would be interested in returing and reshooting to improve the shot using whatever suggestions are propvided. Thanks in advance, Chris Link to comment
plasmatic 0 Posted May 27, 2004 I would have made the subject a little larger to kill some of the dead space. Good job overall. The sepia tone looks nice. Link to comment
josep lluís grau 0 Posted May 27, 2004 Christopher, I like the simple and strong composition of this shot... The only problem is that the image is "falling" slightly to the right... Regards, Link to comment
cghubbell 0 Posted May 27, 2004 Thanks for all the comments so far... I would like to better understand what "falling to the right" means. Thanks, Chris Link to comment
Guest Guest Posted May 28, 2004 I like the composition very much. Have you also tried lowering the horizon near 1/3rd from the bottom? Link to comment
cghubbell 0 Posted October 30, 2004 I've tried this shot many ways now, and have indeed tried lowering the horizon to the bottom 1/3. This has the effect of minimizing the drama of the water, which to me is an important part of the composition. I'm now thinking that the only thing I'd wish to do differently would be to have a smoother water + longer exposure and a sky with some gradient or cloud effects. I'll keep watching for the right evening... Link to comment
