Keeping watch...

+ Vivitar 2X Teleconverter.Wasn't able to capture much detail on film (I was using Kodak Elite Chrome 100 Extra Color which I found was horrible slide film, way too grainy for 100 ISO)so I did some PS work to render the birds as darker shilouettes and remove some stray leaves from the right side. Please comment on whether or not this works.

Please see the technical section of this photo and let me know your

thoughts and comments. By all means feel free to tear it apart. I am

far more grateful to people who take the little extra time to

actually tell me in words when an image sucks and why as opposed to

those who just click on a number and move on. To those who actually

like an image and say so, I thank you for making my day.

Good- I think that this image has great composition and originality to it. The birds add more than just plain branches and they all seem to look towards the distance. I also like the background color.

Bad- not much but I think that trying to fix the grain problem took away the sharpness. Also, the nice purple seems a bit dull. Other than those, I think this is a great image. Good Job

i like the silhouettes of the birds, especially since they are at various non-symmetric positions. perhaps including a bit more of that bottom branch and its attachment to the trunk might make it more "unified". on an aside, idk if you noticed, but your image is not centered within the frame. good shot.

Ronaldo and Asim, thanks for some greatly appreciated feedback.

This image was a compromise in many ways. I did as mentioned sacrifice quality by my experiment with the film, trying to make a decent image out of it did as Ronaldo rightly inferred, sacrifice some sharpness and what little detail there was in the bird's plumage. This image is totally uncropped. I could not get the two branches to unify(thats what I tried first btw) because framing it that way would have cut the top cormorant's head off. I guess i could have zoomed out a bit but at that point i was trying to capture detail and not a shillouette. As for the image not being centered on the mat, I did frame it a little higher(I always do). IMO it emphasizes the image a little more than a center cut mat.
