For some inexplicable reason I like the graphic nature of this

image. I shot it today as I was headed inside to return the 10D I

had been using all weekend. Any comments would be greatly

appreciated, as opposed to just ratings. I will surely reciprocate

thoughtful comments with critiques and suggestions on others' images.

The DOF in such a tight area always impresses me. This is no exception, its great. The nearly velvety texture is beautiful. Technically, Im no expert, Im self taught, and still learning so Im not much help there. But for colour, composition, and plain attractiveness I have a pretty good eye. This appeals to mine.

I just checked out your portfolio. All are very sharp, and colourful, some a touch saturated for my taste, but only a little. I really liked the paper bag idea, could this be explored some more? Check my folders out if you have time, my water folder will appeal to you I think. thanks.

Dealing with color saturation is always a challenge for me, including getting accurate color. I love the qualities of color, even if I cannot appreciate or manipulate them like others can. Terrible color vision somewhat holds me back in that regard.

I think I know which images you are talking about with the saturated color. I've been intending to take several of them down as I don't like them that much. However I can't tell from the reaction whether they're worth leaving or not. I tend to not put many of my images on this site, including my best. So it's not something that I pay much mind to most of the time.

Leave them posted. A little saturation is fine, yours are fine, not like some Ive seen around here, yeesh! If your best are not posted, why not? i'd love to see them. I marked you as interesting, so Ill come back and check. Thanks for the advice on my posting of the trees and mist.

I like the choice to place the low contrast area in focus and let the high contrast area remain out of focus. I would like to see even more detail, texture, grittiness, sharpness etc in the in focus area. Otherwise, simply place all areas out of focus--the photo would look great that way too.

Thanks david. Some sharpness in the in focus area was lost in the compression from photo.net.

Shot digitally, I looked at the detail on my screen from the raw file and it's so gritty and textured. I'll see if I can't upload a higher quality version in a couple days.
