Stars over Moss Lake

carl smith

Some heavy work had to be done to fix an unusual bit of a light leak on the right side of the image. Still investigating what went wrong to cause that (it was the middle of the night after all). 2 hours at f4.

This is a 2 hour exposure starting at around 10:30 PM. The glow in the distance is from the sun which had set over an hour previously. It still illuminated the sky slightly.

Cleaning this up was a pain because the right side of the image suffered from a light leak. There is another image shot at the same time in the same place in this folder, but on a 6x6 camera. That didn't work out perfectly either as it underexposed the image considerably. In the end after correct it I rather liked the results, although they are distinctly different.

This is a great picture, with excellent tonal gradation and strong shapes. It is like a B&W picture with the bonus of color.
