Thomas you asked for a comment - I rate folders on aesthetics and originality- being that I teach an Aesthetics class as a part of Photography I, this is my reason for my rating. I rate aesthetics on whether I would hang it on my wall in my home. With a 4 rating - I might if it suited the room. As far as originality is concerned, I do not find macro shots to be too original. Maybe I have seen too many of them recently. The critique is more about personal tast than professional opinion. As a professional I rate you work as a whole very highly. This image just doesn't do it for me. Good enough explanation? I hope so.

Aestatics and personal flavour usually mix. It is like movies and music. So I don't take it serious. If everytbody would like the same things or rate on aestatics the same way...this world would be a boring place. I think teaching a class on Aestatics is in MHO teaching people what to like. With photography it is maybe different. Leading lines, rule of thirds, SFS etc etc are good "Guidelines" and in view of historic interpretation correct but how many photo's would be judged by Old school photographers below level while in this day and age they are the bomb? Anyway, I appreciate you taking the time to elaborate and I accept :). But, aestatics is one thing but you must agree personal taste..is another and can collide? Right?
