salvatore.mele 1 Posted May 9, 2004 I took this picture during a long walk on the little-visited northern Bali beaches. I've done some -minor- cropping and I would like to know if you like the composition, or one shoud rather crop the lower half of the picture... Thanks for your comments. Link to comment
micheleberti 0 Posted May 9, 2004 I like the comp and the crop as well. Interesting action here. Well done. Link to comment
uwestiens 0 Posted May 9, 2004 Hi Salvatore. You could crop the bottom a bit to get those two black objects out of the picture. I also dont really like the frame. Too thick and black. Otherwise the photo is excellent. Regards, Uwe. Link to comment
louise bridge 0 Posted May 9, 2004 Yes, yes, I agree. The motion and action here is great. Crop the bottom to eliminae those dark shoreline blobs. I'm glad someone else commented on the too heavy frame. I see a lot of distracting frames on P/N and this is the first time I remark on one. Link to comment
salvatore.mele 1 Posted May 9, 2004 Michele, thanks for your comment. Uwe, Louise, I've followed your kind advice and I've removed those shoreline objects, cropping a bit on the lower hand. For reference, I post here a small version of the picture as it was. As for the frame, thanks for the open comment. It is something I am reconsidering at the moment, you know, the fact is that this amount of frame, 10% of the longer axis, is what I have been using to post pictures on the wall, to give enough break with the white background... I will continue thinking about it. Link to comment
peter_daalder 0 Posted May 29, 2004 Wilst I'm not entirely convinced about the value of frames around web-based images, there certainly have been various discussions about the white background on PN (you probably would know this, since you've been looking around this site, longer than I). It can kill the viewing pleasure of many uploads. Often (as happened with this one), I click on the Large view. On this 'old' computer at my workplace, it fills the 15" screen, because the display is set for 800x600 pixels only (!) Biggest drawback is being on a dial-up connection... Looking at large images is even sloooower... The cropping suggestion above was a good one and I commend you for including a small reminder of your original submission. Nice comp! Link to comment
