bekster 0 Posted May 6, 2004 Donna this is awesome! The dragonflies are always too quick for me (alas)... Plenty of depth here, wonderful capture! Link to comment
donnaalbers 0 Posted May 6, 2004 Thank you everyone for your generous comments. Becky, do not despair!!! . . . I've discovered that even if you scare a dragonfly off, it will return to the same perch if you remain still for a few seconds. You can then proceed to move very slowly to get your next shot. donnaalbers 0 Posted May 6, 2004 I guess it just goes to show how highly evolved barflies are. . . . sol Link to comment
bekster 0 Posted May 7, 2004 This dragonfly I believe is a male Eastern Pondhawk (Erythemis simplicicollis). The barfly in contrast would be... perhaps Homo simplicisyphyllis. Only one is elegant and beneficial... (The dragonfly is getting a bad rap here) Link to comment
sarahunderhill 1 Posted May 7, 2004 WOW! What a great photo, Great detail and color, too! Link to comment
donnaalbers 0 Posted May 7, 2004 Thanks again, everyone, for your comments. Becky, you've confirmed what I've always suspected, that a barfly is a species unto itself. And thanks for the identification of the dragonfly. I'm hoping to get more shots of these incredibly beautiful and agile creatures. Link to comment
