evan_noble 0 Posted May 3, 2004 A very good shot. I like the lighting and the composition, although the firefighters (?) might have been better off a wee bit to the left..? Link to comment
k2 0 Posted May 4, 2004 i would love to see more your shots from this location, it seems your eye has a desire for "steamy" balance, so my curiosity is even greater imagining what the others might look like. best regards k Link to comment
dumpster001 1 Posted May 4, 2004 where there's smoke there's fire. where there's steam, there's Beau with his Leica :-). no question about the mood here, but i'm a little uncomfortable with the compositional balance for some reason. it's probably the giant post/pillar? i don't know. Link to comment
beau 1664876222 1 Posted May 4, 2004 Balaji, I agree with you. I was trying to do something unconventional with the composition, because I'm trying to break out of my tendency to be overly formal that way. But my eye keeps struggling with the framing too, and I'm not sure that this tension is a good thing. Link to comment
k2 0 Posted May 4, 2004 i have no problem with your composition, find it quite intriguing. the post on the left ( big ) and the beam the workers hold together, sets this tone of duality in your image. two beams, two workers, humanity control of events and events that are bigger then us and not in control, the weight and balance of your image sets this uneasy-uncomfortable-feel, and it is exactly what it should do. look into a film by alexander sokurov "whispering pages", you might find something that might inspire. best regards k Link to comment
Guest Guest Posted May 5, 2004 The only thing I will say is that I am headed over to 58th and Third ASAP. ;-) Moody and dramatic. I really love it. Link to comment
andrew_lee2 0 Posted May 5, 2004 I like it quite a bit---in particular, the lovely tonality, and the ambiguity of the scene itself. Link to comment
