can't believe i'm saying this, but i like the color version better. i have a weakness for red and yellow :-)

later added : on second thoughts, b&w versions bears a thicker sense of tranquility.

great composition, but its too greyish for me, i'd try autoleveling or curves for more contrast.

cheers.

Usually, sunrise/set is photographed for it's colors, so this is a really different approach. And for me it works really well. Interesting composition, great tonal latitude... Jiri

I like this one a lot, composition is spot on with the rocks on the right providing a balance for those on the left. The sand in the middle leads the eye nicely to the sunrise.A previous comment on the contrast is valid,I find it lacking punch.Maybe its my monitor but I hit it with auto levels & the improvement is pleasing to my eye.But I tend towards contrasty prints anyway so who am I to judge.Besides that scans, whether from print or neg loose a lot once compressed for web use.

Regards Pete.

P.S. I like the colour version from the digital.Couldnt believe my eyes--the MEDIUM FORMAT MAN using a digital. You kept that quiet!!

I nearly bought one in Singapore on the way home.

At last, an opportunity to compare digital with the real thing. I've always been slightly irritated by the digiphob comments, but my untrained eye tells me this one has more depth than the canon shot. That said, I like them both. I recently acquired the 300D and am just wading through the results, after 5 weeks in England. Now can I stick my neck out and say cropping the two rocks at the bottom makes this more comfortable to view...for me anyway.

Your comments are very welcome Hanna. I think your crop idea is fine, I'd certainly be prepared to crop some of those rocks, but I'd like to leave a sliver of sand below the triangle shaped rock at bottom right. Thanks.
