I never get Spanish moss to come out right. I love this shot - all the layers and textures, with the tree as the main focus. Very pleasing.

I was there not long ago. The trees are really something to see. My photos looked like trees, yours looks like a painting. Very nice

Thank you everyone for your kind comments. I took this photo of this live oak tree after a heavy rain and I think the diffuse light was reflected by the raindrops which made everything sparkle.

Kim, I've also taken lots of shots of spanish moss and am still trying to get one that captures its magical quality.

Jerry, these trees are truly awesome!!

Definately better viewed large ...... nice detail in the grass and on the tree. I like the sprinkling of sunlight and shadow too ... !

Mind if I have a lunch under this tree, bottle of wine, loaf of crunchy French Bread and a bit of aged cheddar....just listen to the silence.... *R*

you're welcome, Linda. . . . pull up a corner of the blanket, kick off your shoes, and enjoy the scenery. .. there are two deer at the edge of the woods, and an armadillo on the trail. . . if you use my binoculars, you can see the woodpecker high up in the tree. . .

Excellent composition and pleasing colors. I guess I'll be the first to pick a nit; but the dead tree to the left is detrimental, IMO. But, I suppose it must not be a serious problem, considering all the above praise. :-) Very crisp detail and "everybody" it seems "loves" Spanish Moss. I grew up along the Gulf (of Mexico) Coast and today live not so far north of it. Sad thing is, this Spanish Moss, also called Peat Moss is a long, slow death to great Oaks.

Kudos on a fine composition.
