Glacial Ice

aepelbacher

Adjusted and cropped in Photoshop cs. Yes, I know that 800 speed film is not optimal for landscape photography. I am working on composition and am also working within a budget. I used 400 and 800 speed film for this entire trip in Alaska merely for the flexibility ... I wanted to be able to shoot a couple of pics of a mountain then of a bear then of a building in changing weather conditions (often overcast) and with different length lenses without having to change out film. Thanks for the comments on film ... next time I go to Alaska (!!) I will take some 100 ISA with me!

Photo.net's jpeg is MUCH less blue than the original image. Any

comments or ratings are appreciated, regardless! :-)

Yes I find colours come up different on PN too. I try uploading a picture then adjust it and upload the new version to get it to match what I think it should look like. The colours and subject I like here but I think the composition is perhaps not as striking as it could be. Here's is a qick play (with added blue). Not sure if it is an improvement!

Nice colors. It is that deep rich blue glacial ice color that I remember the most from my trip to Alaska while ago.

I think the image quality in this photograph is exceptionally good. Very nice color as well. As I keep looking at this, it momentarily looks like a sheet of polished marble, and then shifts back to a crevasse. It's an interesting effect! Regards.

It would be cool to see blue ice. One of these times on our Canada trip, we'll just go a few hundred miles further and visit Alaska. I lived there as a child, in Sitka, but I was 5 when we left, so my memories are very fuzzy.

Makes me want to chip some for my margarita...

Kidding aside, I like this abstract comp, and the blue is very cool....

I've gotta get a scanner...I haven't seen a glacier shot in years...need to find the few I have. This reminds me of Portage Glacier...Which one is it?
