The Tenth in my series on 'A South Indian Wedding' - 'Kanyaa Dhaanam'. This function signifies the father-in-law giving away his daughter in marriage to the bridegroom. This is considered one of the most important events of the wedding ceremony. The bride sits on her fathers lap and the mantras are chanted before he gives his daughters hand in marriage to the bridegroom, which follows in the next photo of the series - 'I Do'. Look forward to the next in the series of 'A South Indan Wedding'A small request - I would like the members to see all the photographs in this series in totality as this is more of a series and a story rather than individual photographs :)

well,i feel this particular ritual has a lot of emotions and sentiments attached to it....seen in this light, your picture catches none.....it seems quite bland to me.i think if you would have been a little more patient and pulled the shutter at a more intense moment,it would have said it all...but the sombre mood shines through, though very feebly.

The dude almost looks pleased to get rid of her :).. just kidding.. I know it's a small matter but I LIKE how the wrist watch boldly denies this anachronistically styled photograph. Can't wait to pick on the next one ;)..

Well, I do not like this particular segment, the groom was topless with all the adornments...

As a whole I like your composition. Thanks for sharing,Pradeep.

thats the custom in our community, during most of our functions (religious) the person who is the one doing the function (male) is usually without a shirt.
