The rest of your folder is better. I like this one, but is not as special as the others.

Moody, disingenuous, and speaking directly to photography's capacity to distort and alter reality---the Upper East Side is nowhere near this gritty and menacing, Beau, and you know it ;>

Drew, I agree with you to a point, although this is exactly how it looked at the time. This was over by Lex where there's a big construction project going on, which creates a certain vibe, and I guess the grafitti-covered truck was imported from... your neighborhood? ;)

I like the image plays around with grit and menace. I think in large part effective street photography is something that challenges one's normal assumptions about people and place. So if in a moment, the photo skews the typical perception of a place, then perhaps that's not such a bad thing. Look at Winogrand's work, which constantly caused one to rethink how the conventional views of the world accorded with reality. I'm not necessarily disagreeing with Andrew's point, although I think "disingenuous" is perhaps too strong a word.

Good shot Beau.

god, this is lovely. it has your name written all over it, Beau. i think some of the discussion above seems to obscure the fact the photographs don't always and necessarily capture the reality in its truest essence.

anyway, i love this shot and have always loved your work ofcourse.

Your entire portfolio is excellent. This latest is no different. You seem to see outside of the norm, and that is what makes your images as impactful to me. Love the bleakness here. There's not much to see -- much is black or covered in smoke/fog. To my eyes, that's what makes it extraordinary. Well done.

You've been great in replying to forum questions, including mine, so I decided to checkout your page. I'm glad I did. Your work (is this your primary dedication?) is EXCELLENT. Glad to see another "street" photographer's work at PN. Images like this with its gritty poetics and balance of realism and mystery are what makes me take pictures too. Cheers.
