I am having trouble convincing myself that this shot is truly sharp. I know that you can see the hairs on the legs but those hairs are prominent and show up easily. They should be pin sharp and look like thorns.

There should also be hairs visible on the head and I can't make those out either. Similarly the wing venation is blurred.

Finally I would like to know the species of damselfly so I am afraid that I don't appreciate your title.

I aplogise for the above but it's as I see it.

I might not be a too serious person, but the title made me laugh! And I appreciate the colors and the composition of this shot.

Alon,

i really like the colors and texture. great choice of DoF. Th eonly thing that disturbs me is that the wings are cut off in the frame.

Moshe

Thank you all for nice comments and nice ratings!!

Douglas - thank you for your honest comment. I had less then 2 seconds to take this shot, so, this is way it's not so very sharp. Sorry for that. Regarding the title I thought it would be funnier then to call it " a dragonfly".

Cristina thank's! it makes me happy to know that you find it amusing :)

Moshe I choose this frame because the wings were too long and did not add to the subject.

Thank you all again, rgds, allon.

Given the angle I believe it would be very hard to get sharpness that shows the hairs on the head as well as allthe legs. It seems to me that the 2nd leg on its right is fairly sharp. Anyway what makes this shot is not the hair (she may try waxing) but the composition and color.

Very good macro, the metallics colors of dragonfly are marvellous. The strong light makes

the most of the subjet.

Allon,

I'm glad that you recognise what I was saying. I am guessing from your reply that you are not a Natural History photographer and I was making comments from that perspective.

I am afraid that you might find the next bit rather pedantic. Again it's from the point of view of a naturalist.

Had you called it a dragonfly I would have made precisely the same comment - but more strongly. What I would have hoped for would be the full scientific name of the species. In any event what you photographed is not a dragonfly (Anisoptera) but a damselfly (Zygoptera). As I said very pedantic !!!

Best wishes

Douglas
