Transient light

ian cameron

This much photographed tree stands on the edge of lake Buttermere. I was fortunate to be in the right place when a shaft of sunlight ripped through the dark clouds and illuminated the tree and lakeside.

A lot of people will say to get rid of man made stuff in a landscape shot, but in my opinion it can make a photo a lot of times. I have tried to imagine this photo both with and without the wall, and I must admit I like it with the wall in the foreground as it offers a clear picture of the environment and the way the wall must wrap around the field from your point and back around to the tree, helps paint a more vivid and serene picture in my mind without requiring the entire picture. Very well done!

The wall is OK where it is.The scene would not be as dynamic as it is without itin my opinion. It make the path to the tree more intriguing an unaccesable, and lead my sight to that tree.Well done my friend.

I woul choose a square crop though.
