geoffgadow 0 Posted April 9, 2004 Excellent. I have seen similar photos taken by hunters, and I hope you are one that "gets" the difference. Great photograph. Link to comment
magnus2 0 Posted April 9, 2004 Like how you focused on da fense rather than the eye. Nice shoot! Link to comment
beaky 0 Posted April 9, 2004 If the eye had been in focus, this would have been a different image! Perhaps a little more DOF would have been good, but I'm not sure. You wouldn't want too much either! The blurred eye also makes me think a of the blurred vision you can get when dreaming yourself away! Link to comment
galina stepanova 0 Posted April 10, 2004 I try do be dare enough to disagree with some of your opponents. IMO having eye out of focus makes image more emotionally strong and dream of freedom more unreachable. Sergey: the best!Best regards. Link to comment
Guest Guest Posted April 10, 2004 When I saw it first, the first thing I thought of was, the eye should be in focus. But as mentioned above, I, too, think having the bars in focus changes the story told by this photo. Excellent job and I learnt something here. Link to comment
Raisanen 0 Posted April 11, 2004 This is a very good zoo photo! One picture tells more than thousand words. BR, Ilkka Link to comment
b_rd_lindqvist 0 Posted April 11, 2004 You can really see the fear and vulnerability of being encaged in that eye. What animal is it? I like the fact that you have focused on the fence rather than the eye. It makes the picture convey what it is supposed to convey. Had you focused on the eye, the fence would most likely be almost invisible. And the expression in the eye might have looked different too. Link to comment
gilbert_fortier 0 Posted April 12, 2004 Looks like what we call in french a "grand duc", type of owl with orange irises. Great idea for this shot, the "frame within the frame" is very effective. The colors and light are great too! Link to comment
sarahkane 0 Posted June 12, 2004 Wonderful concept; executed wonderfully with such a sense of emotion. The colour of the eye and its soft focus in contrast with the harsh black and white details in the cage work harmoniously. Great photo Sergei!! Link to comment
