"Sinous Rythm" - Figure in Smoke

dabar

Almost a straight smoke shot. I removed a bit at the top and bottom to "clean" the composition. I also pushed the saturation and adjusted the levels.

As I continue to re-examine my existing smoke shots I keep finding

what I consider "gems" of form and movement. I sincerely hope that

you enjoy the result.

This was one of many taken during a session. I usually take about 75 exposures during the time it takes for the cigarette to burn down. From those exposures I might get 4 or 5 good ones. A single exposure is just one flash of the strobe timed, hopefully, at just the right moment to catch an interesting pattern.

The post-processing takes longer than the entire session in most cases. Finding the "good" shots, cropping, cleaning and adjusting generally takes around 15 minutes per shot.

As with many photographs the final photo is "made" and not simply "taken." The making of a fine photo can sometimes be accomplished entirely In Camera, but more often is the result of extensive work in the darkroom, either wet or digital.
