bjcarlton 0 Posted April 3, 2004 Taken in about 1987 after a long hike with an increasingly heavy camera. Link to comment
pat_wilson1 2 Posted April 3, 2004 Very good exposure and print! This is a fantastic example of making a studio anywhere. Link to comment
davidmccracken 2 Posted April 3, 2004 You should have got the model to carry your camera. By the looks of her, she wasn't carrying anything else! Seriously! Not a lot to say! Nice shot! I would prefer more of her and less of the rocks but that is only because I am selfish! Link to comment
bjcarlton 0 Posted April 4, 2004 As to the more model and less rocks, I did do a version like that in the darkroom, and it looks very nice. I keep going back and forth myself as to which I like better. By the way, in an actual print, you get lots of nice texture on the granite. And as to the suggestion about having the model carry the camera . . . wish I'd thought of that! Just goes to show you there's more to photographic technique than just focus and exposure! s.t._cole 0 Posted April 5, 2004 This is classy and imaginitive. The line of sunlight that forms a line from the model's head to her feet is just perfectly beautiful. I wonder, did you have this shot planned before you came upon this particular rock at this particular time? Great work! Link to comment
bjcarlton 0 Posted April 5, 2004 As to planning this particular scene, I was just lucky, actually. The site is a good 45 minute hike in from the road, and you have to keep a sharp eye out for rattlesnakes. The rock formations, though, mean that there will almost always be good backdrops. John Peri 1,029 Posted April 13, 2004 This is actually very good. It's not just the contrast between hard and soft, curves and lines, but also the attractive play of light on the model. Hope you will be showing us some more Barry. Link to comment
david shelby 0 Posted June 21, 2004 Ok Berry,For me to give a 7 rating across is something I seldom do,but the composition and B&W gray scale leaves me with no choice. If the Model was not present within the photo.I would have to link Ansel Adams work within your perspective.... Timeless photograph!!! Link to comment
jonathancharlesphoto 0 Posted June 24, 2004 Brilliant composition - a favorite theme of mine. The model is in harmony with the shape of the stone bed she is lying on and the sunlit area is enhanced by the massive "frame" of the shadowed rocks all around. The textures are finely rendered by the perfectly exposed B&W print. Just great. ... Jonathan Link to comment
Elstad 7 Posted August 19, 2006 Nice interplay with light and dark. I normally enjoy scotch on the rocks but Barbara on the rocks.... Very nice image. Link to comment
jonathancharlesphoto 0 Posted April 20, 2007 Just came across this beautiful shot again - it would be nice to see some more from this series. Best wishes, Jonathan Link to comment
juan-de-santa-anna 0 Posted April 26, 2007 Although I like all three of these recent new to me posts of this perfect model...being a man of little contrast...LFOL...I really like the rich blacks and the tones they call mid on in this image...not to mention that the composition is just as sweet...nice one! bjcarlton 0 Posted April 26, 2007 Yeah; this one has always been my favorite. Haven't been back to photograph at the site for years, though. Link to comment
