chubbs 0 Posted March 24, 2004 this is not sharp everywhere it should be which makes me have to mark it lower than I want to. I keep looking at it wanting to rate it 5/5 or even 6/5 but it is not sharp which makes me use the 4/5. Link to comment
someoneelse 1 Posted March 24, 2004 That's what I realy like, to give me an explanation for your ranking. I understand what you mean; I could have made it sharper. I did see it myself, but I didn't mind it myself, because it is from the left to the right. And that's making it not IMO a disturbing factor. But you are right. Thanks to take your time and had a good look. Els Link to comment
someoneelse 1 Posted March 24, 2004 Thanks for your comment, could you explain to me what DOF means? I am an illiterate person in abbreviation. I have a dictionary on my computer, so I look up a lot of English words. (My first language is Dutch). But this one I don't understand. Thanks anyway, for your time. Link to comment
Guest Guest Posted March 24, 2004 ... I find the lack of sharpness in the lower left area is but a momentary distraction, but it leads the eye better to the more interesting part of the photo, which is composed, lit, and toned beautifully. The image itself rises above what can be seen, and what can't be seen (the locked book's contents) is the mystery which the photo's aesthetics suggest. And I do like (unstated) mystery in a photo, and the unapologetic irony of this photo's title! - best, Gary Link to comment
ljk 0 Posted March 24, 2004 I like the composition and tones in this. Also the diagonal lines broken by the curve of metal is effective. And the content? Like Gary said, the mystery is there, too.... Link to comment
someoneelse 1 Posted March 24, 2004 Thank you so much for your explanation of DOF, and the nice words. It is good you also look at picture, not only at the technical thing, but also the "story" or feeling it gives. Link to comment
someoneelse 1 Posted March 24, 2004 Nice to hear from you, I don't have Photo Shop, but Paint Shop (and I am learning), I did something with the color, but the original one is almost the same. It realy has this, goldy, brown texture. Els Link to comment
johnorban 0 Posted March 25, 2004 As always, you've shown us an interesting and unusual image. Link to comment

ken_thalheimer 3,739 Posted March 25, 2004 Els, I suppose it could be a bit sharper. But, there's something about it I like as is. By the way, thank you for your kind words on my macro Link to comment

rogerphoto 0 Posted March 29, 2004 Yeah, the word that came to my mind, when i look at this, was Mistery. I like especially the tones, but i'd like to see a bit more of the pages on the top. Yes, Portugal it´s a picture itself. If you came to Fig. Foz feel free to contact (through PN for ex) Link to comment
someoneelse 1 Posted March 29, 2004 That's a great idea to have a visit if I am near your place you are living. I will look up where this place it is. I am living in the Algarve, near Olhao, Moncarapacho. I don't know if it says something to you. And I understand you want to see more of the pages, but I cropped it this way, because I want the focus on the lock, but thanks anyway Link to comment
