very well done!!!!

I'm still trying to stich properly...

wow... you succeeded!!

wonderful color...

that drop-shadow at the bottom kind of detracts from the deep green of the water for me...

excellent!!

the "avg" rating you recieved on this without explanation always makes me wonder... why do people go out of their way to rate a pic that "doesn't do anything for them" without saying why?? doesn't contribute much... and for some reason the database isn't recording my rating..

figure a 6(o)/7(a) from me... ;o)

shame..

Jennifer, this image was captured last year when I was in Hong Kong. I was trying out panorama shots just to understand the concept and kept it till now. Glad you all think it's OK.

Jack, thanks for trying to rate this image. I try not to take low ratings seriously as many of the raters don't have proper images in their own PN sites.

Most panorama stitch shots simply look that way. Some are barely interesting. But this is one of the best and most enjoyable panorama shots I've seen. I only wish there was a boat in the foreground to make the harbor seem busy.

Alec, A lovely shot. I've never been to Hong Kong and this picture is as intrigueing as I imagine how Honk Kong is. I look forward to seeing your new pictures all the time.

Congratulations!

Hi Everyone, thanks for the compliments. To answer question from Steven Ruder and anyone who is interested.

Actually I don't believe in pano-stitched software. What I find more often than not is the individual shots carry different exposure values and that difference is very clear in the combined picture. So the best way to get it together for this 5 photos is :

1. Shoot the pano shots

2. Check the sizes. If it's 1280WX860H then open up a new image for (1280X5W) X 900H in Paint Shop Pro 7 or 8.

3. Cut and Paste the images into the pano shot. If the exposure is incorrect, try correcting it by changing saturation levels before including into the composite shot.

4. Once all the images are all joined correctly then cut for the final pano image.

5. Use clone brush to clean up the joined parts.

6 Viola! There you have it - a complete panorama.

Very nice, Alec! This one is probably the best panoramic shot I've seen on PN so far. The colors are very pleasing and the sky is perfect. Nice job.

ALec, Beautiful panoramic, excellent composition and you picked a great day to take the shots. Just wish I had a wall big enough to hang a photo like this.
