peter_daalder 0 Posted March 23, 2004 Long time no views. Been away from photo.net during our southern summer and have only just returned to full activity in the last month. Saw you're delayed response to my last comment. A strange image that one. Probably a play of light and textures in the marble... This is your very latest obviously and although I'm going to check out the others later, I took an instant liking to this. I wonder if you can share some of the details on this one. I have not a lot of experience with deliberately including people in my photos, but this looks to me like a great setup... The Night Nurse emerges on the left of this frame, literally cutting out a ghostly shadow (due to flash, or other light source?), as she purposefully makes her way towards the darkened corridor leading onto a ward. The softening and toning works for me. The fact that the nurse shows little or no facial features gives me the feeling that this scene could be transplanted to any hospital in the world. I'm only one guy with his own taste, but this image carries an ethereal beauty in my eyes. Link to comment
steve_patterson 0 Posted March 25, 2004 Good to hear from you, Peter. This was shot with an old Yashica TLR, flash on camera (hence the immediate hard shadow) in an old school, trying to give the feel of a glimpse from a hospital bed or a frame of a film. I gave it a slight sepia tone in Photoshop then softened it slightly. Old gear, old technique, antique image. Steve Link to comment
peter_daalder 0 Posted March 27, 2004 Thanks for providing the background to this, Steve. Much appreciated and another excuse for me to have a look at this one. My liking for it hasn't diminished... Link to comment
peter_daalder 0 Posted March 31, 2004 It's a shame that nobody else has shown an appreciation for this image. I sometimes wonder if I should revive the Hotlinks idea... Link to comment
steve_patterson 0 Posted March 31, 2004 This was shot with an old Yashica twin-lens reflex with a flash on camera for an old-fashioned look. It was further toned and softened in Photoshop. All comments welcome. Link to comment
syuly 0 Posted March 31, 2004 Looks like something someone would see that was drugged up in a hospital bed an eerie feeling it gives me- but great photo's make you think, well done. 6/6 Link to comment
ken_thalheimer 3,739 Posted April 18, 2004 I agree with Peter about the etheral feeling. I like the way she seems to just appear from the left. Reminds me of some of the long shuttered mental hospitals in decay here on LI. It is eerie Link to comment
