I used Paint Shop Pro to apply a pastel colorization to the orignal B&W image, with the texture also modified to be more like that of a painting. The original image can be viewed HERE

I find the colorized version to be superior aesthetically, when compared to the original B&W image. A photographic purist might however prefer the original B&W version.

Using Filters in Photoshop is lots of fun, but still, you would do better doing hand coloring of B/W shot. Somehow, you can't achive that feel of nostalgia with Photoshop.
